Queenstown shootings

Explanation
On 17 November 1985, members of the SAP in Queenstown, Cape, disrupted a residents' meeting at the Nonzwakazi Methodist Church in Mlungisi township, and opened fire. In the ensuing conflict between police and residents, at least 11 people were shot dead and many were severely injured. The dead were buried at a mass funeral in Mlungisi township on 13 December 1985.

Was ‘necklaced’ to death by street committee members on 8 December 1985 in Mlungisi, Queenstown, Cape. She was suspected of being an informer at the time of the build-up to the funeral of those killed in the Queenstown shootings. The perpetrators were arrested and charged.
