DECISION

The applicant was, during 1993-1994, a member of the African National Congress at or in the vicinity of Nelspruit. he participated in activities amounting to the unlawful possession of firearms, unlawful possession of ammunition and the unlawful possession of a hand grenade for which he was convicted and sentenced. He acted as a member of the African National Congress and completely in the interests of the aforementioned organisation. The requirements of Act 34 of 1995 have been complied with. the applicant is consequently GRANTED amnesty for:

i) unlawful possession of 17 AK47 firearms;

ii) unlawful possession of 1200 rounds ammunition; and

iii) unlawful possession of a hand grenade -

in contravention of Act 75 of 1969 for which he was convicted and sentenced to seven 97) years; one year and three years respectively by the Northern Transvaal Regional Court held at Nelspruit on 23 June 1994, the sentences to run concurrently.
