      DECISION

______________________________________________________

The Applicant, a former officer attached to the Security Branch in Pretoria, applied for amnesty in respect of a number of incidents.  All incidents, with the exception of the present one, have been dealt with at hearings.  The present incident concerns an explosion at or near the Salt River Civic Centre in the district of Cape Town during or about 1989.  The explosion took place late at night and no one appeared to have been injured.

The Applicant's only involvement in the incident was that he acted as a driver for Col. Eugene de Kock from Pretoria to Cape Town and kept observation while the bomb was being planted at the identified target.

After perusal of all documentation relating to the incident, the Committee is satisfied that the Applicant has complied with all the formal requirements for amnesty, that the act applied for was an act associated with a political objective as envisaged in the Act and that he has made a full disclosure of all relevant facts insofar as his memory allowed.

Accordingly, the Applicant is GRANTED amnesty for his participation in the explosion of a bomb at or near the Salt River Civic Centre in the district of Cape Town during or about 1989.

DATED AT CAPE TOWN THIS    DAY OF                  2001.
