Somebody said they should take all the money. They said they were not interested in the money. We realised it was a terrorist attack. The manager approached them and they demanded the release of Nelson Mandela. The kombi they arrived in was full of ammunition. They asked that it be returned. He then said, we know we are going to die but you are going to die with us. I asked him why are you doing this. He said my mother works for you for four rand a month. They were the three attackers: Humphrey Makhubo, Fanie Mafoko, and Wilfred Madela, Annamaria’s colleague: Cindy Anderson, who died in her arms, and another colleague, Annetjie de Klerk. 15:00On Friday, the 20th of May 1983 a car bomb exploded in front of Air Force Headquarters in central Pretoria. It was a devastating blast. 19 People died and 40 were injured. The ANC claimed responsibility. Shortly before, they had warned the South African government to remove military installations from civilian areas. 15:39And at the time our base was Air Force Base Waterkloof, so I arranged to leave there a little bit earlier to first go via Air Force Headquarters so I could collect a certain documentation which I wanted to use for recruiting purposes.
