For me it’s a great pride to walk here and look at this monument as it stands here today it represents a part of my volk’s history. It is a heritage that is sacred to me as a Boer. It is important to remember that the time of the knight with the sword has passed, and the real challenges lie at the negotiating table. I believe the time for fighting and playing soldier is over, we must now go to Mr Mandela, like Moses went to Pharoah and talk to him.
