A COSAS and Alexandra Youth Congress member who was tortured while in detention in Johannesburg Prison, in 1986. Ms Bapela was detained at Sun City Prison under emergency regulations during 1985 and was only released in 1988. Ms Bapela and other activists launched a protest demanding to be charged or released.
