Was shot during conflict between ANC and IFP supporters in the area. He died from his wounds in Ndwedwe, KwaZulu, near Durban on 5 February 1994. At least twenty eight incidents of house burning were recorded that month. Hundreds of people were forced to flee the area, and schools and shops were forced to close.
