Description
Coetzee, a former Vlakplaas commander who had exposed the activities of Vlakplaas, survived an attempt on his life by Security Branch operatives in 1991. A bomb intended for him detonated when his attorney activated a tape recorder. His attorney died in the explosion. Nine Security Branch operatives were granted amnesty (AC/2001/167).
