A Mandela United Football Club (MUFC) member who died after being shot, stoned and stabbed with a sharp object in Orlando West, Soweto, Johannesburg, in February 1989. Mr Madondo died when he was sent to kill five youths who had allegedly refused to join the MUFC.

Winnie’s football club was now falling into disrepute, nevertheless she continued recruiting. When one youth, Sibusiso Chili, refused to join a fight broke out and a football club member Maxwell Modondo was killed. Winnie demanded revenge. Katiza Cebekhulu heard her give the order.
