Was killed by IFP supporters in Mpumalanga, KwaZulu, near Durban, on 22 January 1991 in ongoing political conflict in the area. The perpetrators abducted Mbali and her mother when they could not find another member of the family. They were taken to an abandoned house where her mother was raped and hanged, and Mbali was suffocated to death.
