Was shot in the foot by members of the SAP in Kagiso, Tvl, on 17 June 1976 during the Soweto uprising. He was walking home with friends when police allegedly tossed teargas at them from a moving car. When they ran away, a policeman allegedly got out of the car to follow Mr Modipane and shot him.
