Was shot by a member of the KwaZulu Police at Maghabeni, Umgababa, KwaZulu, near Durban, during November 1990 while returning from the funeral of a friend who had allegedly been killed by the KwaZulu Police. Mr Nxumalo had to have a leg amputated as a result of the shooting.
