Was shot and injured at his church at Bhekezulu, Estcourt, Natal, on 2 April 1994, when IFP supporters opened fire on the congregation, allegedly because they suspected that members were considering joining the ANC. Six people, including Mr Shabalala’s daughter, were shot and killed in the attack.
