Description
Was arrested and beaten by police during school protests in Athlone, Cape Town, in September 1976. He was the deputy principal of Alexander Sinton High School. In September 1985 he was severely beaten by police and detained for two weeks. He was again detained in June 1986 under emergency regulations and held for nearly a year at Victor Verster prison where he experienced severe ill-treatment and periods of solitary confinement.
