The applicant, who is a supporter of the African National Congress, applies for amnesty in respect of the harbouring of two Umkhonto we Sizwe cadres at his place of residence during June 1987.
The applicant harboured the two cadres at the request of two persons named by himself. He agreed to harbour the cadres as he wanted to make a contribution to the struggle against apartheid. He derived no personal gain from his actions.
The application complies with the requirements of the Promotion of National Unity and Reconciliation Act, No. 34 of 1995, the applicant made a full disclosure and the harbouring of the cadres
were acts associated with a political objective committed in the course of the conflicts of the past.
In the circumstances, the application succeeds and the applicant is
GRANTED: amnesty in respect of the harbouring of two Umkhonto we Sizwe cadres at his place of residence during June 1987.
