DECISION

The applicant, a member of the former Self-Defence Unit (SDU) in Tokoza makes an application in terms of Act 34 of 1995 as amended, for amnesty in respect of the unlawful possession of firearms and the distribution thereof.

During 1990 he purchased (5) five firearms and distributed them amongst members of the SDU for the purposes of defending themselves and the community against attacks by the opposition party, the Inkatha Freedom Party.

We are satisfied that the applicant has complied with the requirements of the Act and amnesty is accordingly 

GRANTED: in respect of the unlawful possession of the said firearms and for the dealing and distribution thereof.
