He says that the general purpose was to defend the community against the opposing Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP). It is common cause that there was a conflict between the IFP and the African National Congress. He now applies in terms of Act 34 of 1995, as amended, for amnesty for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. In consequence of these activities of the SDU, the applicant was at some time during the operation of the SDU in unlawful possession of a firearm and an undetermined amount of ammunition. We are satisfied that the requirements of the Act have been met and amnesty for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition is GRANTED . SIGNED ON THE 30TH MARCH 1999.
