He lost his house in an attack by supporters of Chief Mahlangu in Mathula Stands, near Dennilton, KwaNdebele, in July 1975. Chief Mahlangu supported the incorporation of the village into the tribal authority of Lebowa but many residents resisted incorporation which resulted in the attacks on people and property.
