She had her house burnt down by named Inkatha supporters at KwaNdengezi, Kwazulu, near Pinetown, Natal, on 17 November 1989 in intensifying political conflict in the area. One of her sons died in the attack. The attack was allegedly motivated by the belief that the family supported the ANC.
