CHAIRPERSON: Morning everybody. I apologise for the late start, it's the usual Monday morning blues. Before we start I'd like to just briefly introduce the Panel to you. On my right is Acting Judge Chris de Jager, he's a member of the Amnesty Committee, he comes from Pretoria. On my left if Mr Jonas Sibanyoni, also a member of the Amnesty Committee. He's an attorney and he also comes from Pretoria and I am Selwyn Miller, I am a Judge attached to the Transkei Division of the High Court. We have various matters on the roll. I'm told that the one that we are due to start with, that is the matter relating to the application of Mr Leshomo, is to be postponed. Is that so?

MS COLERIDGE: That is correct, Chairperson. We've notified Mr Leshomo, that is the applicant Chairperson. We've duly notified him and appointed a legal representative on his behalf. We appointed the firm where Ms Mohammed is at and instructed Advocate Razak to appear on behalf of the applicant. It transpired, Chairperson, that because there are a number of implicated persons involved, the PAC was also notified and the Commission attempted to appoint Mr Bandezwayo in this matter. We had no clear indication from the applicant that he required another legal representative, Chairperson and today we were informed that Mr Bandezwayo will be appearing on behalf of the applicant.

It transpired that this matter has been postponed and will be set down for the 15th of May at this very same venue, Chairperson, the Jiss Centre.

CHAIRPERSON: Yes, I think just before we proceed, if the legal representatives who are here, could just kindly place themselves on record.

MS RAZAK: Certainly Chairperson. I am Adv Razak and I accordingly withdraw as the legal representative of Mr Leshomo, given the circumstances as explained by the Evidence Leader and presumably tomorrow he will be represented by another attorney.

CHAIRPERSON: Thank you Ms Razak and I'd like to thank you for making yourself available today.

MR VENTER: The date of the postponement has been arranged with me and it suits me.

CHAIRPERSON: Thank you Mr Venter. Mr Venter is the 15th of May suitable for you, are you available?

MR VENTER: Yes.

CHAIRPERSON: Yes, in the circumstances then, unfortunately we'll have to postpone the application of Mr Leshomo. Mr Leshomo, we'll have to postpone your application for the reasons that you've heard, to the 15th of May at this venue, Jiss Centre. If you could please ensure that you're here by 9, half past 9, because we'd like to start at 10 o'clock on that day and to the victims who are present, I'd like to apologise for the inconvenience of the postponement. Unfortunately it's a matter out of our hands. So the matter is then postponed to the 15th of May 2000 at Jiss Centre to commence at 10 o'clock in the morning. Yes, also the persons who have received notices as being implicated persons, I also apologise to you for the inconvenience of the postponement, for having to come here today, but you're also informed that it's postponed to the 15th of May. Thank you very much.

MS COLERIDGE: Thank you Chairperson.
