April 1994 elections

Explanation
South Africa's first democratic elections began on 27 April 1994 and continued for three days. In some areas of Natal, polling was extended into a fourth day. The ANC won 62,6% of the vote, and a Government of National Unity was constituted. The elections were followed by the inauguration of Nelson Mandela as President on 10 May 1994.
