Was beaten to death by members of the Imbokodo vigilante group in Moutse, KwaNdebele, in 1986 after he was accused of insulting ministers from KwaNdebele. Was arrested in Tweefontein, KwaNdebele, on 26 April 1987 and detained for almost two months under emergency regulations. Mr Mahlangu was detained during conflict between the Imbokodo vigilante group and those opposing the incorporation of Tweefontein into KwaNdebele.
