DECISION

This is an application for amnesty in terms of the provisions of Section 18 of the Promotion of National Unity and Reconciliation Act, No. 34 of 1995 ("the Act).
After carefully considering this case and all the documentation contained in the file of the Applicant, we are of the view that the application complies with the requirements of the Act. The offence committed is an act associated with a political objective as required by the Act. There is also no question of the Applicant not having made a full disclosure of the relevant facts. We accept that at the time of the commission of the offence referred to herein, the Applicant was a member of uMkhonto weSizwe, the military wing of the African National Congress.
He is therefore GRANTED amnesty for high treason which he committed during or about 1979.
