The wounded policeman, Constable Ricardo van Wyk may have to be transferred to a hospital in Cape Town. [Inaudible] report that UNTAG spokesmen have severely criticized the South West African police for not taking enough care in transferring the three men who are considered to be dangerous. // ‘The escape seems to have been planned well in advance and executed with military precision. Road blocks were mounted on all the main routes in South West Africa Namibia today and at the ports of entry and exit. But at least one citing was reported from as far away as Virginia in the Orange Free State. The three men: Horst Klenz who is a 52 year old West German citizen and considered to be the most dangerous of the group, 23 year old Leonard Veenendal who has said earlier to have had connections with the AWB and 22 year old Darryl Stopforth both of Johannesburg were to appear in court in connection with seven charges relating to the attack on the UNTAG office at Outjo including one of murder. The attack in August during the run-up to the independent elections in the territory shook the people of Namibia and cost the life of a security guard, Mr. Michael Haoseb of Windhoek. Although accounts in the local media today were sketchy on what exactly happened at the lay-by near Otjiwarongo it appeared that the three men were in the back of the police van and two young policemen in front.
