The room was quiet and Jann’s bed empty. The door to the hallway was open and from the bed I saw what I thought was a large pool of water. I lay in bed for some time and all kinds of childish scenarios were going through my head. I imagined that my sister had woken up and asked daddy for some water to drink and then dropped it in the hallway. And that was the pool of water that I saw. When I finally got up and went through into the living room a very different scene confronted me there. My father was lying on the floor, just near the entrance to the kitchen and there was blood everywhere.
