I hate to think of all those things that he’s missed in those years, from the release of Nelson Mandela in 1990 to South Africa’s first democratic elections as well as the birth of his first grandchild in 1993 and the fact that he never got to see Monty Python’s Life of Brian, the film I know he would have loved.
