That led to the harrowing necklacing of Maki Skosana after their funeral. The Truth Commission hearing in Duduza paid tribute to Skosana last year as an innocent victim. But this week the single survivor of the hand grenade incident told the Amnesty Committee that it was Maki Skosana who introduced him to Joe Mamasela. | Full Transcript and References | | 13:23 | The hand grenades were rigged to explode as soon as the pins were pulled out and this is what happened at midnight on 25 June 1985. The deaths of the activists were the result of an elaborate scheme by the security police. It was a specific instruction from him. He told me that the instruction had been approved by General Coetzee, with the knowledge and approval of Minister Louis Le Grange and President PW Botha. | Full Transcript | | 14:42 | At the funeral for the activists Maki Skosana was identified as an informer and we witnessed for the first time the harrowing results on national television. The Truth Commission heard in Duduza this year that Maki was an innocent victim. // After Maki’s funeral there were also rumours that were circulating that they had killed the wrong person. They were supposed to have killed another Maki that is my neighbour. // Maki and her family have emerged after all these disclosures as heroes.
