Special Report Transcript Episode 75, Section 1, Time 00:29Good evening. Welcome to tonight’s Special Report on the truth and reconciliation process. In tonight’s programme we report on a Vlakplaas policeman’s application for amnesty in Cape Town and the special hearings of the faith communities in East London. We also take a look at tomorrow’s hearing on the controversial Mandela United Football Club and Justice Minister Dullah Omar’s statements on Winnie Mandela. But we start our programme in Cape Town. Last year the Truth Commission held two special hearings into the killings of an ANC cell in Cape Town, known as the Gugulethu Seven. A number of former security policemen from Cape Town gave evidence then, but the most dramatic revelation was the involvement of policemen from the security police death squad at Vlakplaas outside Pretoria. This week the Vlakplaas men applied for amnesty for the killing of the Gugulethu Seven. Notes: Max du Preez References: there are no references for this transcript |
