Special Report Transcript Episode 76, Section 2, Time 54:20Evidence on the murder of Dr Abubaker Asvat will now only be heard on Monday. That will include the dramatic statement by one of the convicted killers, Zakhele Mbatha that he got the murder weapon from the hands of Winnie Mandela. On Tuesday, the so-called coach of the football club and the man who was convicted of killing Stompie Seipei, Jerry Richardson will testify. He has said on this programme that he killed Stompie Seipei and Koekie Zwane on the orders of Winnie. Richardson has denied that he was a police informer, but many people do not believe him. It is one of the interesting aspects of this saga: Richardson was possibly a police informer. The Crisis Committee said Katiza Cebekhulu worked with the police and army. Winnie Mandela accused Stompie Seipei and Lolo Sono of being police spies. How did it happen that Madikizela-Mandela was completely surrounded with police agents, or was she? Was it maybe not simply the paranoia of the time? On Tuesday afternoon Winnie Mandela herself will take the stand. The Special Report will broadcast her evidence and cross examination live on SABC 3 on Tuesday and Wednesday. Only after she had given her version of events will we as the public really be able to make a proper assessment of the proceedings at this special hearing. But one wonders at this point, why she had insisted on this public hearing? How could she have thought that this would clear her name? More questions, why had she so blatantly lie to the closed hearing of the Truth Commission last month? Like telling them that the Crisis Committee’s document to Oliver Tambo was a dirty trick by the apartheid state? How can Madikizela-Mandela possibly survive the overwhelming testimony of people with impeccable credentials, like Peter Storey, Azhar Cachalia and Murphey Morobe? Can anybody not be moved by this plea by Azhar Cachalia? Notes: Max du Preez References: there are no references for this transcript |
