00:17Hello. The Truth Commission has thus far concentrated on only one of its tasks: recording the testimony of victims of human rights violations. But what about those who were responsible for these violations. The Amnesty Committee’s full schedule starts in two weeks’ time, but a serious problem has been that former security force members were reluctant to come forward. That could be changing. In a major breakthrough 22 former security policemen approached the Truth Commission this week to discuss the possibility of amnesty. They may want to talk about 18 incidents of violence and sabotage in which at least 43 people died.
