BEKEBEKE, Justice24A youth activist who was severely beaten by named SAP members for several days after his arrest on 20 November 1985, after which he was charged, with 25 others, for the crowd killing of a member of the Municipal Police. One of the Upington 26, Mr Bekebeke was sentenced to death with 13 others and spent two years on death row until his sentence was commuted to a prison term. He was released as a political prisoner in 1992. He were granted amnesty for the killing of Sethwale, the municipal policeman.References
