Was shot dead on 4 July 1992 when the minibus in which he was travelling was ambushed by Inkatha supporters as it left the home of an ANC regional organiser at Bhomela, near Port Shepstone, Natal. Seven ANC members were killed. Five IFP members were convicted for the attack.
