Was shot and injured by IFP supporters on 28 November 1993 at Iniwe, KwaZulu, near Empangeni, Natal, when gunmen stormed a party and opened fire, injuring Ms Dlamini and another relative and killing eight other family members, all believed to be ANC supporters.
