Four policemen werekilled in the explosion, which took place after a decoy smaller bomb had lured them to the scene. Two other people were injured. Three MK operatives were granted amnesty (AC/1998/0067). | References | ESSACK, Riedewaan | 19 | He lost vision in one eye after being shot by SAP members during a rally in Athlone, Cape Town, on 22 October 1985. | References | ETHELL, E | | Was injured in what became known as the Magoo’s Bar Bombing in Durban on 14 June 1986. The explosion killed three women and injured at least seventy four other people. Seven MK operatives were granted amnesty (AC/2001/128). | References | ETSEBETH, Stefanus Filippus | 39 | An SAP member who was injured when a car bomb, planted by MK operatives, exploded outside the NBS building in Witbank, Transvaal, on 24 October 1988. The building was used for commercial purposes, but also housed the Witbank Security Branch offices. Three people were killed and over twenty were injured, mainly civilians. Two MK operatives were granted amnesty for the bombing (AC/2000/055). | References | EVANS, Gavin | 26 | A journalist and ANC underground member who was assaulted, threatened and harassed by members of the Security Police in Port Elizabeth in 1984 and 1985. Mr Evans was subsequently monitored by members of the CCB in Johannesburg and was targeted for assassination in March 1989.
