A SAYCO member who was repeatedly detained under emergency regulations in 1989 and incarcerated in the CR Swart Square and Brighton Beach police stations in Durban. During his detention he was severely beaten and tortured by members of the SAP and the Security Branch, requiring hospitalisation on numerous occasions.
