KHATSHWA, MakulanaAn ANC supporter who was detained in 1960 in Bizana, Transkei, and later sentenced to three years’ imprisonment in East London during which he was tortured and forced to do hard labour. KHAVE, Mthundezi27Was shot and severely injured in Daveyton, Transvaal, on 24 March 1991 when members of the SAP opened fire on residents who had gathered to defend themselves against a rumoured IFP march. Twelve people were killed and at least thirty three injured in the attack. Mr Khave was detained a fortnight later by the same members of the SAP.References
KHAVHUKHAVHU, Birima DavidWas burnt to death and his house set alight by a group of community residents in Venda on 10 March 1990. Nine people were killed and eleven were houses burnt down in attacks on people accused of practising witchcraft to impede the community’s campaign for re-incorporation of the homeland into South Africa. Two perpetrators were refused amnesty (AC/2000/094).References
