Two others were also killed in the shoot-out. Two escaped but were cornered and died fighting at Barkly Pass two days later. The bodies were secretly buried on a farm, Lushof, in the magisterial district of Rouxville, near Aliwal North, Cape, and exhumed by the Commission on 9 April 1997. | References | | MAKHUBU, Makomorane Aletta | | An ANC supporter who was shot in Vrede, Orange Free State (OFS), on 28 April 1993, when police opened fire on a protest march calling for the release of children from custody. Ms Makhubu died later from her wounds. | References | | MAKHUBU, Nombulelo Elizabeth | 43 | Was harassed by members of the SAP in Orlando West, Soweto, in June 1976 because of her involvement in the Soweto uprising. At least nine marchers were killed and around one hundred were injured.
