Police officers were often targeted by political activists as they were seen as agents of an oppressive State.References

MDLULI, MnukenAn IFP supporter who was shot dead when members of an ANC self-defence unit (SDU) opened fire on IFP supporters on their way to a meeting at the Tokoza stadium on the East Rand, Transvaal, on 8 September 1991. Sixteen people were killed and ten injured in the attack. One SDU member was granted amnesty for the attack (AC/1999/00225). See Tokoza attacks.References

MDLULI, SamsonWas injured when MK operatives detonated an explosive in a car outside the South African Air Force (SAAF) headquarters in Church Street, Pretoria, on 20 May 1983. Twenty-one people were killed and 217 injured. The overall commander of MK`s Special Operations Unit and two MK operatives were granted amnesty (AC/2001/003 and AC/2001/023).
