Was abducted, stoned to death and necklaced by a crowd of COSAS members and UDF supporters in Jansenville, Cape, on 6 April 1985. The crowd suspected Mr Maarman of being a police informer. One perpetrator applied for and was granted amnesty for the incident (AC/1999/0240).
