He died when he was assaulted and burnt to death in his home by a large crowd of the residents on 2 February 1990 in the Tshino Village, Venda. A meeting held by local youth resolved to kill people suspected of engaging in witchcraft and collaborating with the Venda government. Two ANC supporters applied for amnesty which was granted.
