A SAYCO member who was shot and injured by community councillors in Crossroads, Cape Town, on 23 December 1989, during a youth march past the municipal offices. There were numerous deaths and injuries in December 1989 when Crossroads residents, under Jeffrey Nongwe, sought to break away from the pro-government Johnson Ngxobongwana and join the ANC.
