Was shot dead by named members of the SAP near his home in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, on 21 October 1985. Witnesses asserted that Ezra had only his house keys in his hands and denied that he had been throwing stones. The inquest however accepted the police version and cleared the perpetrators of any wrongdoing.
