Was shot by members of the SAP who opened fire on a group of toyi-toying youths in Bloemfontein in May 1986. On 21 January 1992, Mr Mbhele was arrested and assaulted by members of the SAP in Bloemfontein when he attempted to speak on behalf of a group of hawkers.
