Was burnt on her leg when a hand grenade exploded in a bus transporting workers in Ratanda, near Heidelberg, Transvaal, on 28 September 1992. One person was killed and thirteen were injured in the incident. A labour dispute between striking COSATU-aligned FAWU workers and non-striking IFP-aligned UWUSA workers caused violent political conflict from July to December 1992.
