Was arrested and severely beaten by Bophuthatswana Police on 1 July 1989 in Leeuwfontein near Zeerust, Tvl, during conflict over the incorporation of Mokgola village into Bophuthatswana. Nine soldiers were killed and several residents were assaulted during this attack.
