Was stabbed and injured on 8 September 1991 in Mofolo, Soweto, Johannes-burg, during conflict between ANC-supporting residents and IFP-supporting hostel-dwellers. The IFP supporters were on their way back from a rally at Jabulani stadium when the attack took place. Three members of Esther`s family were killed in this attack.
