He died in May 1992 in Folweni, KwaZulu, near Umlazi, Durban, when he was shot and injured, and then run over by a vehicle. He was a former local ANC leader in Umlazi CC Section. His attackers were a group of ANC supporters, including the individual who had replaced him as leader of the branch.
