She had her home burnt down in Ezimbokodweni, Umbumbulu, KwaZulu, near Durban, on 5 November 1985 in continuing conflict between Inkatha and UDF supporters following the killing of UDF leader Victoria Mxenge in neighbouring Umlazi in August 1985.
