A member of the United Women’s Congress who was detained without trial in 1985, and again in September 1986, in Cape Town. She was detained under section 29 in October 1987 and severely beaten during interrogation by named and other Security Branch members. Ms Ngemntu was charged with furthering the aims of the ANC and sentenced to an effective one year’s imprisonment.
