Was shot and burnt in a petrol bomb attack by named IFP supporters during political conflict at Empangeni, Natal, on 31 August 1993. A relative was killed in the attack, and the house was burnt down. Mr Ngubeni died of his injuries on 14 October 1993. Two weeks earlier, IFP supporters had killed his brother and his father, a well known NEHAWU member.
